What is Colostrum ? Bovine Colostrum is a thin, white, opalescent fluid (a Dairy Product) obtained from Cows( Bovine). It is the first Milk secreted at the end of a Pregnancy. Bovine Colostrum is used as a therapeutic agent because its constituents are almost identical to those present in human Colostrum. Nature ensures that the new baby will have adequate immune protection while it's own immune system takes time to develop. Colostrum is rich in several immune supportive, health enhancing ingredients. The following information is to help you understand its benefits. It is a very effective tool for reprogramming allergic responses and for this reason I use it with gratitude and appreciation.
What does colostrums do for your body? Colostrum is a powerful enhancer of health in the many ways that it can support overall heath. 1. It increases healthy bacteria adherence to the mucosal wall - specifically important in the gut if you have allergies. 2. It can actually increase the amount of healthy bacteria in our gut. 3. It slows down inflammation. 4. By doing all of the above it can prevent fungal overgrowths and other opportunistic bacteria that are not good for us from staying in our body. 5. Increase digestive enzyme production making our food less allergenic to us which stops the immune system from over reacting and causing inflammation.
How does it do this? Very good quality colostrums such as the Gastro care excel Premium colostrum powder contains 20% Immunoglobulins(IgG & IgA) as well as lactoferrin, Lactoperoxidase, Zinc & Selenium. Each of these components has a specific impact on health in a positive way. I will explain how each one works in the following information.
Q.What are the roles of immunoglobulins? A. Immunoglobulins are protein structures made to protect the body it in some way. There are many different kinds of immunoglobulins but two specifically impact on gut health, allergies and immunity. They are IgG & IgA.
IgG permeates the body's tissues during Inflammation and stimulates Phagocytes to engulf Antigens. When we are eating foods our bodies don't like, it creates inflammation. The more inflamed the gut tissues get the more foods the body perceives to be "antigens" or molecules which the body regards as foreign or dangerous - Antigens trigger an Immune Response from the Immune System. By putting colostrum which is naturally high in immunoglobulin G we know that the body will be getting the support it needs. The antigens will be taken away which means that they can't cause inflammation anymore. By bringing down inflammation we have a chance to heal the gut.
IgA is the most significant of the two immunoglobulins I am describing. IgA circulates in the Gastric Fluids, Blood Plasma, Saliva and Mucous Membranes of the body. It is one of the most important first lines of defence of the Immune System (humoral immunity) in the Mouth, Digestive System, Lungs, Urinary Tract and other body cavities. As you can see from the list of body locations where it is found it can have a profound effect on managing allergy & infection symptoms such as Asthma, digestion problems such as IBS, Urinary tract infections, middle ear infections, fungal overgrowths such as candida, coughs, itchy throats, mood disorders - anything you can imagine!
IgA is also helps to increase the body's production of Secretory IgA(SIgA) which is powerfully anti-inflammatory. To say another way is to explain that without adequate SIgA there is a continuous activation of inflammatory processes in the entire body. When a person has inadequate SIgA the body loses 64% of it's healthy and helpful bacteria leaving it open for colonisation of pathogenic bacteria such as candida. Fungal overgrowths cause yet more inflammation. That also means that if we supplement with SIgA we can increase our good bacteria by 64%. That is good news.
SIgA also helps to increase digestive enzyme potential meaning that if a person is lacking Lactase( the enzyme that breaks down milk sugar) for example and takes colostrum then they will digest milk products better. Because they have the enzyme and their body is able to digest it, it will not become an antigen and because it is not an antigen it will not cause inflammation and it will not invoke a reaction from the immune system.
What is Lactoferrin? Lactoferrin is an iron-binding protein found in Mammals. It has numerous health benefits But most importantly it increases the proliferation of healthy microflora( Bifidobacteria & lactobacillus) while inhibiting the growth and attachment of pathogenic organisms such as bacteria (e.g. Ecoli), viruses and fungi (e.g. Candida albicans) in the gastro intestinal tract. The list of "bad" bacteria and viruses that it inhibits is seriously impressive and as many people with allergies have these present in small amounts they can be hard to find with normal lab tests.
Campylobacter jejuni - Clostridium perfringens - Corynebacterium diphtheriae - Eschericia coli - Helicobacter pylori - Klebsiella pneumoniae - Listeria monocytogenes - Proteus vulgaris - Pseudomonas aeruginosa - Salmonella enteritidis - Shigella flexneri - Staphylococcus aureus - Staphylococcus epidermidis - Streptococcus mutans - Vibrio cholerae - Yersinia enterocolitica And many more.
What is Lactoperoxidase? Lactoperoxidase is a type of dietary Enzyme (a form of Peroxidase) found in Colostrum How does Lactoperoxidase work? Lactoperoxidase catalyses an enzyme system that then interacts with saliva in the mouth which then generates products that kill or inhibit a range of bacteria. For this reason it is helpful in defence of the mouth and upper respiratory tract.
So you can see that Colostrum is a powerful agent that can be used effectively to support the body with all types of immune conditions. Please call Kirsten on 09 3780444 for more information on how you can get this high potency Colostrum powder to enhance your life.
